Biography
Education
Yulia Watters holds a PhD in Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University (FL), a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Geneva State University (Geneva, Switzerland), a specialization in Medical Family Therapy and is a certified Hypnotherapist in the State of Florida.
Training
Dr. Watters received an extensive training in
a variety of medical and hospice settings:
The NSU medical center in the Internal Medicine and Geriatric Clinics,
Brief Therapy Institute, Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, Golf Coast
Jewish Community Services (Extended Geriatric Residential Treatment
Program), the Southwest Focal Point Senior Center Geriatric Clinic, and
Federal Guidance Center for Suicidology at the Moscow Research Institute
of Psychiatry, Russia. In addition to her successful work with the
geriatric population, Yulia helped children during their grieving time
and challenging adoption process. Yulia held position as a child
psychologist in a Foster Home in Brussels, Belgium and volunteered
during the Children Bereavement Camp, Good Grief at the Hospice by the
Sea, FL.
Research
In addition to her clinical activities, Dr. Yulia Watters is also active as a researcher.
Working with the Fischler School of Education at Nova Southeastern
University, she conducts a grant funded research entitled “When Obama
Became President: Meaning of Aging in a Time of Paradigm Shift”. Yulia
also presents extensively on a local, national, and international levels
addressing the issues of older adults, caregivers’ support, and
collaborative health care. She is a member of the American Association
for Marriage and Family Therapy and the American Society on Aging.
