Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT)

Being unique individuals, we exist in a web of relationships. It is not surprising that research demonstrates that mental health problems, family issues, and individual challenges can be better dealt with when our relationships with others are taking into consideration rather than ignored.

Marriage and Family Therapy or MFT takes this premise seriously. This approach allows bringing all the benefits of your support systems in exploration of your strengths, even only one person can attend the session. Surprisingly, you might notice a change in other members of your family even if they don’t attend the sessions with you.

Who can benefit from MFT?

Individuals, couples, and families can consult with a family counselor. Family therapists provide the same services as other mental health professionals, with a different orientation. The research demonstrates the efficacy of this approach with various mental health illnesses (e.g., depression, anxiety, panic attacks), medical challenges (e.g., cancer, diabetes, asthma), and child-parent problems. This approach is effective as it explores and values individual experiences in a relational context.
